FASTER WLAN WITH EXISTING CABLES

R&M represents Class EA installations for 25 Gb bandwidth. Favorable infrastructure for the next WLAN generation and distribution antenna systems. Existing cables can now be used to increase bandwidth in the future. This is important for the upcoming step from 10 to 25 Gigabit Ethernet in local data networks. Future wireless LAN generations and distribution antenna systems require higher bandwidth for data traffic in buildings.

Cat. Already installed thousands of times, the 6A RJ45 connection modules are perfect for use with 25 Gigabit Ethernet. They have outstanding performance - says Matthias Gerber from R&M. Today, customers often install Cat. 6A RJ45 modules with shielded Cat. 7A AWG22 cables. This combination meets the new standard for transmitting 25 Gigabit Ethernet over 30 meters. This means that such an installation is ready for the future. With existing cables and connections, users can quickly enter the next fastest Ethernet generation.

To date, 10 Gigabit Ethernet is considered the fastest data transfer over copper cables. The consortium adopted the 25 Gigabit Ethernet standard for higher speeds in 2017. At the end of 2018, ISO/IEC published technical report TR11801-9905 which describes the requirements of existing installations. Cat. 6A and Cat. The 7A range can be used for EA installations and meets these requirements from the start – explains Matthias Gerber.

R&M expects demand for bandwidth to continue to increase in local data networks. Mobile phone networks are a driving force in this. The next generation of wireless LAN access points require faster connections than 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Then there are distributed antenna systems that will distribute 5G services in large buildings. This technology also requires high performance cabling to the antennas. R&M assumes that the bandwidth in 20 Gigabit Ethernet will have to be covered. R&M recommends – local data networks should always be planned to serve even the fastest applications. The solution from R&M is already ready for 25 Gigabit Ethernet.
